Acute Aortic Syndrome :Diagnosis, Prognosis and Treatment

Abstract

The term, acute aortic syndrome (AAS) has been introduced in 2001 to describe a group of patients who experience intense and acute chest or back pain.Acute aortic syndrome has been attributed to three underlying ethiologies including aortic dissection (AD), intramural hematoma (IMH) and penetrating atherosclerotic ulcer (PAU). Considering rapid acquisition , excellent diagnostic performance and also wide availability, , multidetector CT (MDCT) has become the modality of choice for patients who are suspected for AAS. This presentation aims to review varriable presentations of AAS in MDCT, as well as focusing on difficult and chalanging cases and their differential diagnosis . Also protocol of CT acquisition and related tricky points will be discussed
