Mri In Spinal Dysraphism %R 10.22034/icrj.2018.75447 %X Spinal dysraphism is a broad term given to a group of anomalies where there is malformation in the dorsum of embryo. Spinal dysraphism can be broadly divided to three different pathological entities: 1.  Open Spinal dysraphism 2.  Closed Spinal dysraphism 3.  Complex Spinal dysraphism MRI is an excellent imaging modality for visualizing the spinal cord of patient of all ages and alsocomplex Spinal dysraphism. MRI is an accurate screening modality in the initial diagnosis of occult Spinal dysraphism, but MRI was not useful in postoperative evaluation of lipomyelomeningocele & tethered cord because the caudal, posterior displacement of the conus was unchanged in all studies. False + / - : Normal nerve roots of the cauda equine may simulate low conus on sagittal  MRIs. MRI accurately depicts the extent of syringohydromyelia , which may clinically mimic a tethered cord . Despite surgical repair , postoperative ascent of the conus medullaris is seldom seen on subsequent MRIs.   %U
